Reuse & Recycle
Taking responsibility for our own garbage production is the first and most important step in resolving the garbage crisis.
Reduce the garbage you produce by making conscientious decisions about what you purchase, avoiding disposable products or those with large amounts of packaging, and consider buying gently used items from second hand stores.
Use and reuse wisely the products you do purchase. This can be as simple as reusing an empty jar, composting food waste, selling or donating items you can no longer use to others who can, and repairing broken items rather than throwing them away.
If and when it does come time to throw something away, take advantage of the Region of Peel Waste Management Programs and always take care that hazardous items such as paints, pesticides, and motor oil are taken to appropriate places.
In this section, you will find a list of stores and facilities that accept, sell, reuse or recycle items and thereby keeping them out of the landfill.
