Town of Caledon Council Passes Healthy Horticultural Landscapes By-law 

HLHP in partnership with Caledon Countryside Alliance are offering the Weedgee Kidz program again this year. Weedgee Kidz will work with high school volunteers to teach residents across Caledon how to care for lawns and gardens the organic way.

Weedgee Kidz are accepting applications for team leads and volunteers. Please see below.

Team Leaders will work with high school volunteers to teach residents how to care for lawns and gardens the organic way. Furthermore, the volunteers, called Weedgee Kidz, will pull weeds and turn compost. Each team leader and their group of volunteers will be based in an area of Caledon. They will travel by bicycle, with equipment in tow, to provide free organic lawn care consultations to local residents.

Team Leaders will be trained to understand and teach people about organic lawn care and will learn about an environmental measuring tool called Ecological Footprint. In addition, they will receive training in first aid, bicycle safety, bicycle maintenance and volunteer management.

Qualifications
Interested in environmental issues and organic gardening
Good sense of direction and mapping abilities an asset
Drivers license and access to a vehicle an asset
Access to a bicycle a must
Good health and enthusiasm are mandatory
Preference will be given to Caledon residents

Details
Hours: 30/week, flexible but some weekends and evenings
Duration: May 2004 - August 2004
Wage: $10/hour

Location: Various villages throughout Caledon
